Children at the Border

1.Problem Statement

Many families in Banteay Meanchey are migrating to work in Thailand. Pastor Sophol & Mr. Sokop have been sharing the good news of Jesus Christ at church in Phnom Prek district, Battambang province. He saw many Social issues affecting children in this region include child labor, drug use, poverty, sex trafficking, illiteracy, neglect of the parent to their children, teacher not teach are regular or not on time, children are migration with their parent to Thailand and domestic violence.

Activities 2011-2012 focus on:

  a. Education support:

  • Preschool for 50 children to reduce the guardian’s busy to take time with children no age in school.
  • Non-formal class for 30 children who are dropped out of school.
  • Supplemental class for 224 children at risk of falling behind in school
  • Providing school supplies to 290 children to reduce child’s families expend for their children education.
  • Provide 7 bikes to 7 children for who are far from school


  • Providing training on children’s right to 50 guardians and 80 children in the community.    

   c.Food security :

  • Providing training on raising chicken to 15 guardian
  •  Providing hair cut course to 2 adults
  • Providing micro-loan to 10 children’s families at risk in the community
