CHILDREN’S TEACHER TRAINING

The children’s teacher training is designed to build capacity of churches, especially CPM provincial network churches, to be able to teach their children and lead the children’s prayer ministry. On 30th July 2015, the Children Prayer Movement (CPM) program of Kone Kmeng conducted its teacher training in Nasarin Brolay Luong Church, Banteay Meanchey province with 53 participants from 41 churches on “how to create a creative teaching lesson and teaching methodology”. We also had our seven CPM provincial committee members there to facilitate this training.

As a result of the training, we saw that participants took this opportunity to learn various new techniques in teaching children and joyfully involved themselves with all the training activities. They have learnt about how to teach God’s word to children, caring for children with love, how to teach children in prayer, how to be creative in making lesson plans, and many new games reflecting the lessons. With these leanings, most children’s teachers said that they will apply them with their children at church.

“I have gained a lot of experience from this training. As children’s teachers, we need to have 3 important elements: we pray for the children, teach the Word of God and care for children with love. I will do more research for better teaching lessons based on what I have just learnt,” Vanny said. According to the training test results, the children’s teachers have retained at least 80% of what they were taught.

The children’s teacher training is very helpful and beneficial to our CPM provincial network churches. Even though we had different age of participants, they were all willing to learn new things to help the children at their churches. It does not just give them knowledge or better capacity, but also they can build stronger relationships by making new friends among other teachers. On average, each made up to 5 new friends. Moreover, participants received different additional resources like copies of lessons and children songs as helpful tools to teach the children.
